Job Description

• Conduct client interviews, primarily in Spanish, through a trauma-informed perspective. • Elicits powerful statements while ensuring clients and legal/social work teams are respected. • Crafts stories in a clear, meaningful, and empowering way. • Curate and expands an organized library of written, video, photo, and audio assets created in collaboration with clients and the team to strengthen organizational messaging for development, communications, advocacy, and programs. • Produce high quality, inspiring, publication-ready content across a variety of tones and formats including newsletters, direct mail, weekly e-communications, fundraising appeals, and other donor correspondence in partnership with the Communications Manager. • Build communications that inspire significant investment aligned with mission needs and donor interests. • Measures strategies on effectiveness using data and by speaking with supporters/team. • Assist with other external and internal communications as needed. • Write strategic, inspiring, publication-ready pieces with clarity, warmth, and accessibility across a variety of tones and formats; quickly masters and consistently applies the organizational voice, demonstrates strong editorial judgment, graciously incorporates feedback, and assists colleagues to do the same. • Manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously, collaborating proactively with staff, clients, designers, photographers, team, and others to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials using project management strategies and software. • Maintain a working knowledge of communications best practices, emerging trends in nonprofit storytelling, and digital platform changes to adapt content strategy. • Work in partnership with the team to maintain and supervise the social media calendar, social media accounts, including content creation and curation to ensure alignment with organizational voice. • Oversee the social media calendar. • Develops and updates website content as needed. • Lead the research, writing, and production of the organization's annual report, gathering data, impact metrics, and stories from across departments, ensuring the final product accurately represents the year in review, reflects the organizational voice, celebrates milestones, and inspires continued donor investment. • Ensure exceptional photography and design throughout the report, coordinating with team members and external parties to manage production, print, and distribution. • Develop major written, visual, and multimedia assets such as booklets, short videos, archival projects, talking points for key partners, documentary-style films, and art exhibitions. • Pursue opportunities to elevate organizational stories through external publication, including essays, long-form journalism, or book-length projects. • Execute on special projects as assigned from concept through completion, coordinating with internal teams and external collaborators to ensure a high-quality final product. • Assist with the organization and implementation of Development department events and goals. • Work with a team to achieve FIRRP’s fundraising goals. • Complete 5 personalized donor actions (thank you calls or personalized emails) each week with a goal in stewarding key donors.

Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in writing, communications, marketing, or social media; graphic design and/or photography experience a plus.
  • Fluent in Spanish, both spoken and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Raiser's Edge, Asana, a plus.
  • Exceptional writer with the ability to produce publication-ready work across a variety of tones, formats, and audiences with minimal supervision.
  • Takes feedback as a given, willingness to incorporate various tones/voices into a cohesive and inspiring piece.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines independently.
  • Self-starter and collaborative team player who takes initiative, problem-solves, and communicates proactively with colleagues and leadership.
  • Warm, people-oriented communicator who brings professionalism and integrity to all internal and external interactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with a diverse array of people.
  • Ability to convey a high degree of commitment and passion for the mission of FIRRP.
  • Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making.

  • Must be able to pass basic background checks.
  • Travel is required for this position.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Proven computer skills.
  • Advanced understanding of basic office applications, i.e., Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
