Role Description
WSDOT is currently seeking a Fiscal Analyst 3 to support the Eastern Region Financial Services Office and Maintenance Administration Office. In this role, you will provide critical support in the administration of regional fiscal operations, including:
- Budget analysis
- Work order management
- Inventory monitoring
- Purchasing authority oversight
The top candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills to support accounting functions, administrative tasks, and budget management, contributing directly to WSDOT’s mission by assisting in the region’s fiscal operations.
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Fiscal Analyst 3 will:
- Support the Region Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Budget Analyst in building the regional M biennial budgets and work plans.
- Analyze plans versus expenditures and MAP scores to adjust plans and budgets.
- Seek out grant opportunities and process applications for appropriate activities.
- Support maintenance areas with inventory and budget inquiries.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager, Budget Analyst, and HQ M budget staff to develop decision packages and process journal vouchers for new and existing infrastructure.
- Establish and maintain K work orders in TRAINS and classify them by responsible party.
- Monitor work order expenditures and coordinate with HQ Risk Management for collection from responsible parties.
- Review Consumable Inventory Activity Reports, identify trends or discrepancies, and provide training on efficient purchasing, storage, and usage of commodities.
- Assist Financial Services and Maintenance Administrative staff with accounting duties as assigned.

- Communication and Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
- Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrated ability to respond to fiscal inquiries and provide guidance.

- Accounting and Financial Policy Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of governmental accounting principles and fiscal controls.
- Financial Systems Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using enterprise financial systems or budget tracking tools.
- Training and Technical Assistance: Demonstrated experience providing fiscal guidance or training to staff.
- Accounting and Financial Management Knowledge: Knowledge of accounting, finance, business administration, or public administration principles relevant to fiscal analysis.
