Role Description

Opportunity at a Glance

• Serve as committee chair, or faculty advisor and/or second member of doctoral project study committees.

What to expect as a Walden faculty member:

• Educate Walden University students using online technology and resources.
• Impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique through thoughtful, well-written, and timely communications.
• Maintain a respectful environment for students, faculty, and the discipline.
• Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations.

Training:

• Receive specific training in teaching techniques and use of the electronic learning platform.
• Learn policies, procedures, and degree programs of the School or College.
• Socialization into the Walden University culture.
• Assessment of academic integrity of student work.
• Supervision of DNP project.

Course Teaching/Availability:

• Assigned a course taught using the CANVAS platform.
• Interact with students within the platform.
• Discussion Boards are open 24/7.
• Postings must be completed in a timely manner according to the Faculty Handbook.
• Expected to be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week.
• Responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours.

Licensing/Certification:

• Must be appropriately credentialed with an earned degree from an accredited institution.
• May be expected to be licensed or license-eligible for specific programs.
• Maintain licenses and certifications to continue teaching.
• Expected to stay current with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations.

Tools/Technical Skills:

• Perform essential duties satisfactorily.
• Knowledge, skill, and ability required for the role.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Earned master’s degree in nursing (MSN) AND an earned DNP (preferably in Nursing or closely related field) from an accredited institution.
• Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner certification or executive leadership experience preferred.
• Expertise in areas of scholarship, theory, nursing education.
• Online teaching experience preferred.
• Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students.
• Excellent communication, team, and human-relations skills.
• Evidence of current, active, & unrestricted RN licensure in one of the 50 states in the US required.

Requirements

• Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course.
• Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course.
• Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law.
• Other opportunities for adjunct faculty members include dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
