Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager to lead our Network Monitoring and Telemetry initiatives at Zayo. This role is crucial in enhancing our network performance, security, and efficiency through advanced monitoring and telemetry solutions. The ideal candidate will enable the network with innovative technology improving access, security, and visibility in line with Zayo’s operational standards, reducing expenses, and improving network reliability and availability.
Key Responsibilities:

Network Telemetry Deployment:
- Spearhead the implementation of network telemetry systems across our infrastructure.
- Improve technician connectivity within Zayo facilities.
- Ensure seamless integration of telemetry solutions with existing network systems.

Environmental Monitoring:
- Oversee the deployment of environmental monitoring systems in network facilities.
- Implement initiative-taking measures to prevent environmental-related network disruptions.
- Analyze environmental data to optimize facility operations and network performance.

Fiber Monitoring Expansion:
- Lead the ongoing fiber monitoring deployment across owned metro and long-haul network.
- Implement innovative fiber monitoring technologies to improve network reliability.
- Develop strategies for quick detection and localization of fiber cuts or degradations.

Performance Optimization:
- Reduce access escort costs through improved digital access technologies.
- Enhance alarm visibility and response times across the network.
- Decrease Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) for fiber cuts and environmental events.
- Develop and track KPIs to measure the success of monitoring and telemetry initiatives.

Leadership:
- Maintain regular reporting on team member performance, providing coaching and feedback to ensure productivity and quality goals are met.
Qualifications
- Ability to meet inflexible deadlines and perform multiple non-predictive tasks.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical systems (rectifiers, generators), and site maintenance practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with routing and switching technologies, including OSPF, BGP, and VLANs.
- Experience with cloud networking, SD-WAN, wireless and hybrid networking environments.
- Financial acumen and experience managing budgets for large-scale projects.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Familiarity with network systems such as Fuji, Adva, Ciena, Cisco, Infinera, Nokia, Juniper, Velo Cloud, Verkada.
- Experience with telecom inventory systems, Metasolv is a plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or equivalent education, training, and/or experience.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or other relevant certifications.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience within the telecommunications industry, with a focus on facility management and maintenance.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in leadership or managerial capacity.
