Job Description

Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Sr. Simulation Consultant to develop simulation-based solutions for manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and service systems (e.g. healthcare) analysis projects at customer sites in North America and other global locations.

A successful Sr. Simulation Consultant requires a wide range of technical capabilities in process analysis and improvement methods using traditional industrial engineering tools, with a heavy focus on simulation modeling. The Senior Consultant will also provide mentoring to younger consultants to help them come up to speed on simulation projects and supply chain processes. In this position, the consultant will use discrete event simulation to evaluate various aspects of capacity analysis and other customer processes and make recommendations based on that analysis. The consultant will help specify best practices around object-oriented model development using the new ProModel.ai.

This position  fully remote.

What you will do

In the performance of his/her respective tasks and duties, simulation consultants are expected to conform to the following:

  • Perform quality work within deadlines, with or without direct supervision.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks

  • Develop simulation-based solutions for manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and service systems (e.g. healthcare) analysis projects at customer sites in North America and other global locations.
  • The Sr Consultant will need to take on many roles depending on the project.
    • On smaller projects, the Sr Consultant will be self-managed and will be able to conduct every aspect of the project from receipt of PO until technical hand-off to the customer, including but not limited to: project management, business analysis, specification development, data analysis, model building, analysis, and documentation.
    • On larger projects, the Sr Consultant will need to work as part of a team with a Jr Modeler.  The Sr Consultant will act as Project Manager and/or Model Architect on this team and will need to provide guidance to the Jr Model Developers/Data Analysts.
  • Conduct customer training sessions on the use of ProModel simulation products.
  • Support the ProModel sales team in key sales opportunities, tradeshows, technical seminars and workshops, and other speaking opportunities.

What you need to have

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Systems & Industrial Engineering or a related field in engineering or computer science.
  • Minimum 8 years working in a manufacturing or process-improvement-related environment.
  • Industry experience with ProModel and/or Process Simulator simulation software in a manufacturing or process-improvement-related environment. (Experience with other discrete-event simulation or object-oriented software products, especially AnyLogic, will be considered in place of experience with ProModel and/or Process Simulator software.)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.

What we'd like you to have

  • Relevant project management and/or business analysis experience
  • Experience with C#, Python, or other object-oriented software is a plus
