Role Description

The Armstrong Company is seeking a high-energy and dynamic Sales Representative who will be responsible for identifying and generating sales opportunities. The right candidate will:

  • Work well under pressure
  • Think out-of-the-box
  • Easily initiate relaxed but informative two-way phone conversations with prospects
  • Be highly self-motivated

You own the front end of the sales cycle and bring customers in. Our internal Account Managers and Logistics Coordinators handle onboarding, operations, and service so you can stay focused on selling and expanding your book of business.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of direct sales experience required
  • Track record of closing new business in 3PL/brokerage
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to story-tell around value and service
  • A healthy network of decision-makers and warm introductions
  • Self-starter mentality comfortable with commission-only structure
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent listening skills and a positive and energetic phone presence
  • Extremely self-motivated with a diligent work ethic
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Natural curiosity and a desire/willingness to learn
  • Prior experience with CSM is a plus

Requirements

  • Identify preferred prospects through enterprise resources and strategic sourcing methods
  • Contact potential new customers with the goal of converting prospects into clients
  • Partner with our internal team to ensure flawless handoff and retention
  • Drive growth through cross-sell, upsell, and multi-lane expansion
  • Maintain relevant product and pricing knowledge to educate prospects on services & value propositions
  • Follow up on sales leads and develop, nurture, and maintain a robust sales pipeline
  • Retain and grow an existing client base
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date system of management in Armstrong’s CRM
  • Deliver feedback to the other departments and leverage every resource available
  • Consistently review your role’s KPIs, as defined by sales leadership, to ensure you exceed activity, territory coverage, discovery calls, qualified sales opportunities, and revenue metrics
  • Act in accordance with Armstrong DNA always
  • Any other duties as assigned by Manager

Compensation

  • 1099 independent contractor, commission-only
  • Standard commission: 25% of eligible revenue; up to 30% for candidates bringing strong relationships/books (negotiable based on fit)

  • Ability to sit for long periods; stand and walk frequently; and bend, stoop, and reach occasionally
