Job Description
Role Description
This is a remote position with occasional in-person meetings required. The current schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Reviews medical records and coordinates health care services and referrals for assigned patients.
- Completes forms and provides medical documentation to support services.
- Ensures coordination of patient care and flow of information by delivering clear and concise messages to appropriate parties, documenting information, and effectively communicating with ambulatory clinical departments.
- Utilizes computer programs and follows established guidelines to schedule, update, and cancel appointments.
- Follows departmental policies and procedures to assure completeness and accuracy of registration data, ensuring accurate billing and statistical information, and maintaining accurate authorization records.
- Coordinates with co-workers to accomplish departmental work assignments.
- Contributes to the success of the department by assisting with the development and implementation of methods to improve customer service and recognizing problems and determining possible solutions.
- Serves as a courteous and cooperative liaison between patients, medical staff, and outside agencies, anticipating workflow and preparing accordingly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience working in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
- Experience answering phones and utilizing electronic messaging.
- Must have a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations:
- CMA from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- CCMA from National Health Career Association (NHA)
- NCMA from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- RMA from American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- RMA from American Allied Health
- NCMSMA from National Healthcare Worker’s Association (NHCWA)
- NRCMA from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- NRMA from National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
