Role Description

This is a remote position with occasional in-person meetings required. The current schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

  • Reviews medical records and coordinates health care services and referrals for assigned patients.
  • Completes forms and provides medical documentation to support services.
  • Ensures coordination of patient care and flow of information by delivering clear and concise messages to appropriate parties, documenting information, and effectively communicating with ambulatory clinical departments.
  • Utilizes computer programs and follows established guidelines to schedule, update, and cancel appointments.
  • Follows departmental policies and procedures to assure completeness and accuracy of registration data, ensuring accurate billing and statistical information, and maintaining accurate authorization records.
  • Coordinates with co-workers to accomplish departmental work assignments.
  • Contributes to the success of the department by assisting with the development and implementation of methods to improve customer service and recognizing problems and determining possible solutions.
  • Serves as a courteous and cooperative liaison between patients, medical staff, and outside agencies, anticipating workflow and preparing accordingly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience working in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience answering phones and utilizing electronic messaging.
  • Must have a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations:
    • CMA from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
    • CCMA from National Health Career Association (NHA)
    • NCMA from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
    • RMA from American Medical Technologists (AMT)
    • RMA from American Allied Health
    • NCMSMA from National Healthcare Worker’s Association (NHCWA)
    • NRCMA from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
    • NRMA from National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates ability to resolve consumer problems under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to stay positive in demanding situations.
