This is an Internal Agency Opportunity and only qualified candidates currently employed with the Department of Children and Families will be considered. This position will be assigned to the Statewide Specialized Medicaid Center of Excellence and may be assigned to a Long-Term Care (ICP) processing or inquiry unit, Disability Determination (DDD) unit.

 Location: Pinellas, Hillsborough, Sarasota, Lee. This position is eligible for teleworking.

The salary for this position is $1,470.61 bi-weekly ($38,235.86 annually).

The primary function of this position is to serve as the “Screener” for the statewide Specialized Medicaid Center of Excellence. The incumbent is responsible for completing statewide clearance, carefully reviewing incoming requests, and accurately assigning them to the appropriate staff within the Specialized Medicaid Center of Excellence units for complex Medicaid eligibility determinations. This process requires thorough and detailed screening of all applications to ensure they are appropriately assigned based on specific criteria and program guidelines. Additionally, the incumbent must maintain accurate records, collaborate with team members to address any discrepancies, and ensure all applications are handled in a timely and efficient manner, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of clerical or public contact experience. College education from an accredited institution or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for each year of the required experience.
  • One year experience as an ESS Interviewing Clerk as a Screener (Round Robin.)

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge and application of the policies, procedures, laws and programs governing the agency.
  • Ability to speak clearly and correctly, and to communicate with others to obtain and verify information concerning eligibility.
  • Detect and evaluate potential fraudulent situations.
  • Analyze and interpret written, numerical, and verbal data from various sources.
  • Be detail oriented and enter data accurately into a computerized system.
  • Navigate through computer screens, and complete and review basic computer documents and other forms.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and other documentation.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.
  • Be proficient in the use of the computer including exceptional typing skills.
  • Follow written and oral directions and instructions.
  • Plan and organize to ensure work is completed in accordance with regulations relating to eligibility and timeliness.
  • Effectively interact with both internal and external stakeholders.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience in a position where the major responsibility was working with legal and/or medical paperwork.
