Overview
Work arrangement:
***This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the U.S.A.***
Performs complete loan underwriting documents suitable for obtaining a credit decision.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions1. Performs audit quality review and approval of commercial lease and loan applications and submission documentation at time of underwriting for full compliance with bank credit standards and feasibility of the proposed transaction. Uses appropriate checklists and file system tools, communicates any deficiencies with the team, and issues appropriate letters and communications to drive the underwriting process. Works with management to handle more complex issues as needed.2. Works with salesperson to structure each request to best protect the Bank and to meet the borrower’s desired outcome.3. Communicates with borrowers, sales team, internal team members, and others as appropriate. Including speaking directly with applicant/borrower to determine the knowledge and acceptability of the applicant.4. Prepares detailed financial analyses of borrowing entity, any corporate guarantors and/or affiliates, and principles in the transaction.5. Maintains accurate and complete lease and loan files. Validates that all required authorization, compliance, and approvals are obtained. Verifies existing borrower’s total and current exposure in the loan and leasing systems and databases and ensures that it is within departmental risk levels.6. Generates a written Credit Approval Memorandum reflecting a full underwriting of the proposed transaction meeting bank standards for approval within Bank’s SLA. The completed analysis includes, but is not limited to, financial statement analysis, description of the industry, business history, demographics, management experience and competition and the lease/loan request’s conformance to credit policy, and the Bank’s guidance lines when applicable.7. Assembles credit committee packages and works with management for presentation to the lease or loan committee when needed.8. Serves as the primary backup for the Commercial Credit Manager.9. Determines initial eligibility on certain government guaranteed products (as applicable).10. Works with the compliance department to facilitate the closing of requests and handles credit-related issues as needed. Prepares timely modifications as needed to complete closing process, confirming approvals are in place (internal and committee) when required, and obtains necessary approvals.11. Prepares and sets up credit files in accordance with Commercial standards.12. Trains and mentors less experienced credit officers and analysts.13. Performs other duties as assigned.14. No travel required.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements• Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or an equivalent combination of training and experience.• 7 years of commercial, leasing and/or small business lending credit experience.Preferred Qualifications• Formal bank credit training preferred.• Strong working knowledge of accounting and credit underwriting.• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.• Good credit and underwriting skills analysis including cash flow, balance sheet, financial ratio, industry analysis, etc. with an understanding of bank’s credit profile, credit policies, and risk management objectives.• Team player, able to work effectively in a team fostered, multi-tasking environment.• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
