Job Description
The Territory Rental Manager is responsible for achieving divisional rental sales objectives through the Rental Direct and Manufacturer Representative network within an assigned territory. This role drives growth across Construction, Landscape, and related industries by executing rental‑focused sales strategies, developing Manufacturer Representative capabilities, and ensuring consistent implementation of Toro sales, marketing, and cultural initiatives. The position plays a critical role in expanding rental channel performance, improving market penetration, and supporting long‑term divisional profitability.
Territory includes US North East, Upper Midwest, potentially Mid-Atlantic and Canada.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Rental Channel Sales Leadership
- Achieve annual and quarterly rental sales objectives aligned with divisional financial goals.
- Develop, manage, and review sales forecasts by product group and rental customer type within the assigned territory.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews with the National Sales Manager to assess performance, trends, and growth opportunities.
- Partner with Manufacturer Representatives to create and execute annual rental sales plans, including customer development, new market expansion, and channel program initiatives.
Manufacturer Representative Development & Enablement
- Train and continuously develop Manufacturer Representative personnel on Toro rental products, programs, and value propositions.
- Enhance sales effectiveness through coaching on rental sales execution, territory management, and customer engagement.
- Infuse understanding of Toro culture, values, and expectations within the Manufacturer Representative network.
- Evaluate Manufacturer Representative performance and collaborate with the National Sales Manager to develop corrective action plans when needed.
Consignment & Program Management
- Communicate, manage, and monitor rental consignment programs within the assigned territory.
- Review consignment performance quarterly with the National Sales Manager to ensure optimal inventory utilization and return on investment.
- Ensure consistent execution of rental programs, promotions, and initiatives through the Manufacturer Representative network.
Strategic Collaboration & Market Intelligence
- Build and maintain effective communication systems with key internal and external stakeholders across the rental channel.
- Establish strong working relationships with SWS National Account field management in coordination with Manufacturer Representatives.
- Provide Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams with rental market insights, competitive intelligence, and product feedback to support product development and program improvements.
Operational & Financial Management
- Monitor and manage travel and entertainment expenses within established guidelines; conduct quarterly reviews with the National Sales Manager.
- Maintain professional working relationships with the Sr. Manager, Rental, National Sales Manager, Administration Managers, and cross‑functional partners.
- Ensure all administrative responsibilities are completed accurately, professionally, and on time.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma minimal education required.
- Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience selling durable goods in a B2B environment, industry experience and/or rental channel experience also considered.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve sales objectives and manage territory performance.
- Strong working knowledge of forecasting, sales planning, and territory management tools.
- Highly motivated, self‑directed individual with strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or MBA in related field of study preferred.
- Experience selling through and managing Manufacturer Representative networks.
- Rental industry experience within construction, landscape, or related equipment segments.
- Proven ability to train, coach, and influence external sales teams.
Other Job-Related Components:
Ability to travel up to 50% domestically, and Eastern Canada, depending on territory size and business needs is required. Territory includes North East, Upper Midwest, Eastern Canada and potentially Mid-Atlantic. Preferbaly a major metro area (i.e Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington D.C or Boston). #LI-Remote
The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $115,000 - $130,000. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance.
