Job Description
In this role, you will provide strategic and technical oversight for transmission planning studies and initiatives, while working closely with internal stakeholders, clients, and industry partners to drive business growth. You will support complex system studies, guide long-term grid planning efforts, and build high-performance teams dedicated to transmission and distribution system analysis and development.
- Lead multiple business units and incubate new opportunities across transmission and distribution studies
- Manage and expand engineering capabilities in power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, harmonics, EMT, and related areas
- Oversee study planning and execution, including script development, data handling, and technical QA/QC
- Support project setup and closeout, tracking deliverables, hours, and budgets for performance and profitability
- Develop talent by mentoring engineers and advancing collective team knowledge in industry standards, rules, and tariffs
- Maintain compliance with technical and commercial confidentiality and conflict-of-interest policies
- Collaborate across functions to support strategic planning, business development, and client relationship management
- Attend and lead internal/external meetings to troubleshoot study issues and ensure client success
- Coordinate administrative duties, including performance reviews, project tracking, and NDA/customer setup
- 10–15+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in transmission/distribution consulting
- Deep knowledge of transient stability, EMT, harmonics, power system modeling, and simulation software
- Experience managing technical studies and scripting-based automation of simulation workflows
- Proven track record of building client relationships and leading technical teams
- Familiarity with industry tariffs, power system standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to craft technical reports and presentations
- Excellent interpersonal, delegation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Must be willing to travel up to 25% across North America
- Comfortable working across multiple time zones and supporting remote teams
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
- Leadership experience managing engineering teams and business units
- Experience launching or scaling new consulting service lines
- Engineer-in-Training or P.E. license
- Familiarity with techno-economic modeling and commercial strategy in power systems
- Track record of publishing in technical journals or speaking at industry events
- Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian power markets and grid interconnection processes
- Experience with conflict-of-interest management and data security in consulting environments
