Job Description

VP of Growth

New York, NY, Austin, TX, San Francisco, CA

Overview

Maev is a wellness brand reimagining daily nutrition for dogs. Our first product reinvents dog food -- what it looks like, how it’s made, and who it’s designed for. We’re a team of entrepreneurs, consumer culture fanatics, and food enthusiasts who are obsessed with design and radical innovation in this old industry. We’re a small team, passionate about building a meaningful brand, changing the way we nourish our beloved pets, and supporting others on our close-knit team of good people. But, there's a lot more work to be done, and we're excited to be growing a team of motivated humans that are up for the challenge.

With over 90 million dogs in the US, strong industry CAGR, an increased focus on nutrition, and traditional kibble losing market share due to lack of brand loyalty and poor quality, Maev is incredibly well-positioned to combine these strong industry tailwinds with a brand anchored in quality, transparency and emotional connection.

Maev is currently building out the leadership team with world-class talent to support this growth.

Role

The VP of Marketing will be responsible for owning and scaling positive-ROI paid channel efforts, inclusive of paid social, SEM, and affiliate marketing, along with testing new paid channels to drive brand-aligned acquisition. Additionally, they will manage the strategy across lifecycle marketing, content marketing, press & partnerships, and drive strategies to launch new products and markets.

We are seeking an ideas-driven VP with experience working collaboratively with tech / product to push marketing needs through. The ideal candidate is someone who works well independently, has strong management & agency partnership experience, is capable of handling multiple projects at once, and comfortable with taking strategic ownership along with the tactical day to day execution of growth efforts.

The VP of Marketing will report to the CEO, Katie Spies

Responsibilities

  • Strategy:

    • Establish strategy and KPIs for all growth marketing programs across paid and owned channels, and monitor investments to deliver improved ROI performance.

    • Drive integrated marketing strategies / efforts as Maev expands to new products/markets, leading the GTM strategy for the marketing and brand team.

    • Partner closely with the Creative Team to deliver brand-aligned strategies consistently across channels in order to achieve marketing goals.

    • Own the marketing technology stack and related operations. Ensure that people, processes and tools are optimally set up, aligned and integrated in order to achieve excellent performance and provide visibility and analytics on business results and effectiveness.

  • Tactical Execution:

    • Develop and execute strategy for all paid channels including Paid Social, SEO/SEM, Affiliate/PR, Content Marketing, Lifecycle Marketing, and Partnerships. Manage budgets for paid channels. Directly execute or manage channel managers to drive optimization.

    • Develop R&D channel roadmap, manage budget, and drive execution of new strategies on new and existing channels.

  • Team:

    • Build out a world-class team in support of growth over time. Grow, mentor and advance a unified team with a culture of excellence and clear system for understanding priorities, aligning to them and being accountable for delivering results.

  • Data:

    • Conduct weekly/monthly reporting for all marketing channels supported.

    • Apply qualitative and quantitative research methods along with rigorous A/B testing to arrive at a strong hypothesis that will advance the business. Attribution and marketing mix optimization for key segments will be critical.

Experience

  • 7+ years marketing experience with 4+ years in Growth Marketing/Digital Marketing for a best-in-class B2C brand

  • Experience working in a brand-led organization

  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing those on your team

  • Experience with negotiation and managing vendors and partners

  • Dynamic and outgoing, with a natural skill for building long-lasting relationships with customers and partners

  • Familiar with owned and paid marketing platforms (facebook business, google search, klaviyo, etc)

  • Ability to analyze data in terms of marketing performance and the customer, extremely data-oriented

  • Experience with Excel, Google Analytics, Looker or other BI tools to analyze data
