What You Will Do:
As a Software Engineer III – Front End, you will design, develop, and deliver scalable software solutions that address complex business challenges. Leveraging your technical expertise, you’ll architect systems, resolve technical challenges, and implement effective monitoring to ensure system reliability. You will work collaboratively across teams, and adapt solutions for evolving requirements. Your impact will be evident in the quality and efficiency of code delivered, proactive problem resolution, and support of continuous improvement in our engineering processes, directly contributing to the success of your immediate team and projects.
Engineering roles in the Data Solutions Group (DSG) are characterized by the usage of leading-edge cloud-based technologies implemented by self-motivated engineers who collaborate with and are supported by their team at all levels. On the Front-End, we use a flexible, modern architecture using TypeScript with React to build compelling user interfaces and complex functionality. Engineers are empowered and expected to make key decisions in their designs and implementations, supported directly by their leadership. As a senior member on the team, you will also be expected to think and communicate with the team at a high level, while being able to effectively drop into the details, for both your own work and others’.
Key Responsibilities:
Advanced Software Solution Development
- Implement clean, maintainable code primarily using Typescript and React, ensuring consistent development practices.
- Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to translate technical specifications into fully functional software features.
Complex Technical Problem Resolution
- Diagnose software and infrastructure issues by applying advanced debugging techniques and analytical thinking.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities.
- Refine existing processes and code to further improve the team’s throughput and reduce technical debt.
Delivery Excellence & Quality Assurance
- Leverage true UI tests to cover actual workflows in addition to creating unit tests to ensure software consistency.
- Meet delivery commitments by proactively identifying and addressing obstacles that impact velocity and solution corrrectness.
Navigating Ambiguity & Adaptive Delivery
- Operate effectively in uncertain environments by designing flexible technical solutions that accommodate evolving requirements.
- Modify implementation approaches based on emerging information, balancing depth with agility.
- Iterate and validate solutions through continuous testing and feedback, ensuring effectiveness despite ambiguous specifications.
Experience You Will Need:
· 8+ years of production JavaScript experience with a deep understanding of TypeScript and its underlying principles.
· 8+ years of production React experience.
· Experience with a variety of modern React state management libraries, specifically the Flux model and associated libraries.
· Experience working with modern React tooling and libraries like Webpack and Vite.
· Excellent cross-functional communication skills – you can work well alongside designers, engineers and product owners.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a large codebase – you know when to refactor and understand the cost of refactoring.
· Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguous technical requirements and evolving project scopes, adapting solution approaches and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve successful outcomes.
