Job Description
Job Summary
Liquidia Technologies is seeking a Market Access Medical Science Liaison (MAMSL) to serve as a field-based scientific and strategic expert supporting managed care, Medicaid, and specialty pharmacy (SP) stakeholders involved in the access, education, and real-world utilization of YUTREPIA™ (treprostinil) inhalation powder.
This individual will lead and support Medicaid-related medical presentations, payer and formulary engagements, educational and training programs for specialty pharmacy teams. The MAMSL will also play a key role in informing the development of a foundational HEOR and real-world evidence (RWE) capability at Liquidia, helping define strategies and data needs that demonstrate the clinical and economic value of YUTREPIA in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and Pulmonary Hypertension associated with Interstitial Lung Disease (PH-ILD).
This position will be central to advancing Liquidia’s medical strategy by facilitating compliant scientific exchange, strengthening payer relationships, and guiding evidence-based value communication.
- Advanced clinical or scientific degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, RT, MPH, or equivalent).
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Market Access MSL, Medical Affairs, or payer-focused medical role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Demonstrated experience in payer, Medicaid, or managed care engagement, including P&T support and formulary access discussions.
- Familiarity with health economics, outcomes research principles, or real-world evidence generation, with the ability to help establish and shape early HEOR strategy at Liquidia.
- Strong ability to analyze and translate clinical and emerging outcomes data into payer-relevant communications.
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills across scientific and payer audiences.
- In-depth knowledge of pulmonary, cardiovascular, or rare disease therapeutic areas preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 60+% nationally.
- Lead and support Medicaid medical presentations and payer-facing scientific exchanges related to YUTREPIA and associated disease states.
- Identify Medicaid P&T meetings, foster KOL advocacy, attend/provide testimony, and track P&T engagements as they occur throughout the year.
- Build and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with medical and pharmacy directors within state Medicaid programs, MCOs, PBMs, and health systems.
- Present clinical and health outcomes data in a balanced, evidence-based, and compliant manner to inform formulary and coverage decisions.
- Support formulary reviews, prior authorization policy discussions, and value-based access initiatives through effective medical communication.
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests from payer and health system stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver educational and training programs for specialty pharmacy partners, including nurses, pharmacists, and patient support teams.
- Ensure SP staff are proficient in disease-state education, YUTREPIA clinical data, dosing and administration, and patient support best practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure all SP training materials align with medical, regulatory, and corporate standards.
- Partner with internal Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Clinical teams to identify data gaps and potential areas for real-world and outcomes-based evidence generation.
- Provide strategic input into the design and prioritization of RWE initiatives that support payer and clinical decision-making.
- Take an active role in helping shape and establish Liquidia’s HEOR and RWE capabilities, working collaboratively to define infrastructure, data needs, and external partnerships.
- Translate emerging clinical and real-world data into concise, payer-relevant insights to support formulary and reimbursement discussions.
- Collaborate closely with Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Commercial stakeholders to refine payer value communications and develop scientific resources.
- Gather and synthesize field insights on payer trends, access barriers, and unmet needs to inform medical and access strategies.
- Support advisory boards, symposia, and payer roundtables that advance understanding of PAH, PH-ILD, and inhaled treprostinil therapy.
- Identify and engage Managed Care and payer-focused Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to inform medical and evidence strategies.
- Represent Liquidia at key managed care and pulmonary conferences (e.g., AMCP, CHEST, ATS, ISPOR) to share scientific updates and payer-relevant evidence.
- Support development of scientific publications and presentations aligned with Liquidia’s medical and payer strategy.
