We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Consultant to join our fully remote team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse portfolio of clients — providing strategic HR guidance, managing complex projects, and delivering results that make a real impact for both organizations and their people. This is a client-facing, consultative role that requires someone who brings both deep HR expertise and exceptional relationship management skills. Trusted Client Advisory
- Serve as a dedicated HR partner across a portfolio of client organizations in diverse industries
- Build deep, lasting relationships with client leadership — becoming their trusted go-to advisor for all people-related matters
- Provide proactive guidance that anticipates HR challenges before they escalate
- Deliver the 'wow factor' in every client interaction through exceptional responsiveness, expertise, and follow-through
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Lead and manage complex employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
- Coach managers on performance management best practices, documentation standards, and conducting difficult conversations
- Design and implement performance improvement frameworks aligned with each client's culture and business goals
- Navigate sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and sound professional judgment
HR Project & Change Management
- Lead end-to-end HR projects including policy development, process redesign, and organizational change initiatives
- Develop and execute change management plans that drive adoption, minimize disruption, and bring stakeholders along
- Manage multiple client projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and meeting deadlines consistently
- Prepare and deliver clear, compelling presentations and recommendations to senior leadership
Benefits Administration & Compliance
- Advise clients on benefits plan design, open enrollment coordination, and carrier transitions
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws including ACA, FMLA, ADA, and FLSA
- Partner with brokers and vendors to resolve escalated issues and optimize plan performance for client employees
- Support payroll-related inquiries and collaborate on deduction audits, compliance corrections, and reporting (preferred)
Communication & HR Effectiveness
- Develop polished HR communications including policies, employee handbooks, memos, and training materials
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and leadership development programs for client teams
- Translate complex HR regulations and best practices into clear, actionable guidance for leaders at all levels
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience with a strong foundation in employee relations and performance management
- Demonstrated success in a client-facing, consulting, or multi-client HR support environment
- Proven project management capabilities with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple clients
- Meaningful change management experience — you have led organizations through transitions and brought people along
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt your style from frontline managers to C-suite executives
- In-depth knowledge of employment law and HR compliance across federal and state jurisdictions
- Ability and willingness to work West Coast hours (Pacific Time) in a fully remote setting
- Self-directed and highly organized — you operate independently with minimal oversight and deliver consistently
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior HR consulting, PEO, or HRO experience strongly preferred
- Benefits administration experience including vendor management and open enrollment
- Payroll knowledge or experience supporting payroll audits and compliance corrections
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and the full Microsoft Office Suite
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 annually
