Role Description

Matrix Providers is looking for an Account Manager who serves as the primary relationship owner for assigned providers supporting federal healthcare staffing programs. This role is responsible for ensuring a high-quality provider experience, driving performance accountability, and maintaining operational alignment across internal departments. This is a provider-facing role, heavily focused on engagement, retention, issue resolution, and performance management.

The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, highly organized, data-informed, and proactive in identifying and resolving issues before they escalate. This role partners closely with Recruitment, Credentialing, Scheduling, HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure providers are supported and program expectations are met.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned providers.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships that promote retention and engagement.
  • Conduct regular provider check-ins to assess satisfaction, identify risks, and reinforce expectations.
  • Support onboarding efforts to ensure smooth provider transitions onto assignment.
  • Monitor provider performance metrics (attendance, compliance, quality, utilization, responsiveness).
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Address performance concerns promptly in partnership with internal teams.
  • Document interactions and action plans to ensure clear follow-through.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Recruitment, Credentialing, Scheduling, HR, and Finance to resolve provider-related issues.
  • Ensure providers are informed of policy updates, compliance requirements, and operational changes.
  • Manage travel coordination and related processes when applicable.
  • Support standardized reporting requirements for internal leadership.
  • Identify risks of provider attrition and implement proactive retention strategies.
  • Provide insight to leadership on provider trends, morale, and operational gaps.
  • Assist with readiness efforts for recompetes and program transitions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • 2–3+ years of experience in commercial healthcare staffing, account management, provider relations, or healthcare operations.
  • Experience supporting VA, DoD, or federal healthcare contracts a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a provider-facing or employee-facing role.

  • High emotional intelligence and professionalism.
  • Ability to analyze reports and translate data into actionable steps.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency preferred).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of this role are consistent with those of a typical office-based position.
  • The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, operate a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively via phone, video, and email.
  • Occasional travel may involve walking, standing, and transporting small amounts of materials (e.g., laptops, presentation materials).
  • The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

  • This is a remote, home-based position.
  • The individual must have a dedicated workspace that allows for reliable internet connectivity, minimal distractions, and a professional environment suitable for virtual meetings.
  • Occasional travel may be required for client site visits, team meetings, or program reviews (approximately 10–15%).
