Compensation
The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $87,200.00 to $145,300.00.

Position Details
This role will require a strong technical expertise in Server management, advanced scripting capabilities, AWS operational support and a solid background in leading technical teams through peer influence and training. You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and managing critical infrastructure systems that support various operational functions within Grainger, including warehouse management, financial systems, and more. Your role will contribute to ensuring system availability, enhancing automation, and continuously improving operational efficiency.
You Will
  • Manage and maintain Server environments, including current operating systems and their management components.
  • System Monitoring & Maintenance: Design and implement robust monitoring solutions (e.g., disk usage, CPU/memory performance) to ensure the health and availability of critical applications and infrastructure.
  • Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level support for system administration, including issue triage, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex technical problems.
  • Automation and Process Improvement: Develop and implement automation solutions using tools such as Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) to eliminate manual tasks and improve system reliability.
  • Peer Training & Mentorship: Lead and influence peers through training and knowledge-sharing sessions, fostering a culture of continuous technical learning and improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Frontline Operations, Command Center) to resolve escalated technical issues and ensure effective resolution.
  • Incident and Change Management: Adhere to best practices in Change, Incident, Problem, and Request Management to ensure consistent delivery and documentation of IT operations.
  • On-call Support: Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis once a month to resolve production issues outside of regular hours.

You Have
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years Server Administration Experience required
  • Advanced scripting skills, with proven ability to automate system tasks and improve infrastructure management.
  • Experience in automating IT infrastructure using tools like AAP and Terraform
  • Familiar with relational databases and how OS layer supports those technologies
  • Hands-on experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure
  • Expertise in using monitoring tools such as Splunk, Zenoss, or equivalent to monitor infrastructure health and performance.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP) and experience managing server security, server access, and associated technologies.
  • Experience with system performance optimization, incident resolution, and process improvements for infrastructure systems.
  • Strong communication skills for effective technical mentoring and leading peer groups.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and prioritize tasks
  • Strong analytical skills to identify system issues and optimize performance
