Role Description

The Business Intelligence Analyst partners closely with business and functional leaders to define meaningful performance metrics, ensure data accuracy, and translate insights into clear, actionable reporting. This role plays a critical part in enabling data‑driven decision‑making by designing and maintaining KPI frameworks that directly inform leadership priorities, risk management, and operational outcomes. The ideal candidate operates at the intersection of business strategy and data analytics, with direct ownership of KPI reporting from definition through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to define, document, and standardize KPIs aligned to strategic and operational objectives
  • Design, build, and maintain end‑to‑end dashboards, scorecards, and recurring performance reports for weekly, monthly, and executive audiences
  • Analyze KPI trends, variances, and key drivers to surface insights and actionable recommendations
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting sources and outputs
  • Automate reporting processes to improve scalability, reliability, and efficiency
  • Develop clear data visualizations and performance narratives tailored to executive and operational stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain reporting governance, metric definitions, and KPI documentation
  • Support ad hoc analysis and deep‑dive investigations to inform business decisions
  • Continuously evolve KPI frameworks in response to changing business needs

Typical Day in the Role

  • Sync with business and functional stakeholders to review priorities and requirements
  • Publish scheduled weekly and monthly KPI reports
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to support leadership decision‑making
  • Review data accuracy and optimize reporting workflows

Performance Measurement

  • Timely completion of agreed deliverables
  • Adherence to established reporting cadences including weekly, monthly, and executive reporting
  • Responsiveness to priority requests and changing deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams without delivery gaps

Unique Selling Points

  • KPIs directly inform leadership decisions, prioritization, and risk management
  • Metrics are reviewed by senior leaders and actively used to guide action
  • The analyst shapes what is measured, not only how it is visualized
  • High visibility role with direct impact on business outcomes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in business intelligence, analytics, or performance reporting
  • Demonstrated ownership of KPI frameworks and reporting solutions
  • Experience building dashboards from data model through visualization and publication

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI and enterprise reporting tools
  • Strong Excel capabilities for analysis, modeling, and reporting
  • Working knowledge of SQL and data transformation techniques
  • Expertise in KPI design, performance measurement, and variance analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data quality management skills
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences

Candidate Requirements

  • Ideal candidates demonstrate balanced expertise across business context and data analytics
  • Direct ownership of KPI reporting is required; consumption‑only dashboard experience is not sufficient
  • Exceptional Power BI and Excel skill sets are mandatory

Top Hard Skills

  • End‑to‑end dashboard development including data modeling, visualization, and publishing
  • Data querying, transformation, and preparation
  • KPI design, performance measurement, and analytical interpretation
