Role Description

We are recruiting on behalf of a respected insurance defense firm seeking an experienced Litigation Partner to help lead its New York general liability practice. This role is ideal for a senior attorney who brings deep expertise in general liability defense and enjoys operating at a strategic, leadership level.

Rather than managing a heavy personal caseload, this Partner will focus on litigation strategy, client relationships, attorney development, and oversight of complex matters.

As a Partner, you will serve as a trusted leader within the litigation team, guiding case strategy across a portfolio of general liability matters. You will collaborate closely with associates, senior attorneys, and clients to ensure consistency, quality, and strong outcomes across all phases of litigation.

This is a remote-first position with in-person New York court appearances as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight and direction on general liability litigation matters
• Act as a primary client and carrier contact on complex cases
• Review pleadings, discovery strategy, motion practice, and trial preparation
• Mentor and develop junior and senior attorneys through ongoing guidance
• Ensure litigation standards and firm expectations are consistently met
• Step into matters as needed to support quality and results

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active admission to the New York Bar (in good standing)
• 7–10 years of litigation experience within insurance defense
• Extensive experience in general liability defense
• Prior experience working within an insurance defense law firm

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Background in auto liability, premises liability, and personal injury defense
• Strong leadership and client management capabilities
• Experience overseeing associates and managing litigation strategy
• Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on involvement when needed
• Collaborative mindset with a commitment to mentorship and team development
