Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect who will be the "technical north star" for our organization. This role has a dual focus:

  • Systems Integration: You will own the entire enterprise integration strategy, defining how our dozens of applications (from legacy mainframes to modern SaaS) communicate, share data, and interoperate seamlessly.
  • Large Project Implementation: You will serve as the principal architect and technical governor for our most complex, high-impact, and cross-functional technology initiatives (such as ERP replacements, cloud migrations, or new digital product launches).

Key Responsibilities

  • Integration Strategy & Architecture
    • Develop the Blueprint: Design, develop, and maintain the enterprise integration architecture (EIA) strategy, roadmap, and standards.
    • Define Patterns: Establish and govern all integration patterns (e.g., API-led, event-driven, pub/sub, microservices, ETL) to be used across the organization.
    • Platform: Help with the selection, implementation, and governance of our integration technology stack (e.g., iPaaS, API gateways, message brokers).
    • Data Flow: Map and architect the flow of all critical business data (e.g., Customer, Product, Order) across systems to ensure a "single source of truth."
  • Large Project Governance & Oversight
    • Technical Vision: Serve as the lead architect for our largest strategic projects, translating business goals into a high-level technical vision and solution architecture.
    • Design Authority: Review and approve high-level solution designs from project-level solution architects, ensuring they align with enterprise standards, security policies, and the long-term roadmap.
    • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and resolve major architectural risks, conflicts, and dependencies between large projects.
    • Future-Proofing: Ensure new implementations are not just short-term fixes but are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the future-state architecture.
  • Collaboration
    • Stakeholder Alignment: Communicate and present complex technical strategies to Director and above non-technical audiences.
    • Mentorship: Provide leadership and mentorship to solution architects, data architects, and senior engineers.
    • Innovation: Continuously research and evaluate emerging technologies and integration trends to keep our architecture modern and effective.
  • Supervision of Personnel: No expected direct reports for this role, but will lead cross-functionally through influence.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years in technology with at least 5+ years in a senior or solution architecture role.
  • Integration Expertise: Demonstrable, deep experience designing and implementing complex, enterprise-wide integration strategies (API-led, SOA, event-driven, etc.).
  • Large Project Track Record: Proven experience providing architectural leadership for multiple, concurrent large-scale transformation projects (e.g., digital transformations, major platform/ERP implementations, large-scale cloud migrations).
  • Technical Breadth: Broad knowledge spanning applications, data, infrastructure, and security. Must be an expert in how they all connect.
  • Integration Technology: Hands-on experience with integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, TIBCO) and/or cloud-native services (e.g., Azure App services, AWS EventBridge, GCP Pub/Sub, Azure Logic Apps, Apigee).
  • Communication: Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills. Must be able to "sell" an architectural vision and build consensus.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with EA frameworks like TOGAF or ArchiMate.
  • Cloud certification (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector.
  • Experience architecting for both on-premise and cloud/hybrid environments.

Job Location

The position is fully remote, but up to 10% travel required to IEM facilities, training or conferences.
