Role Description
Our postings are eligibility pools for positions that may arise during the 2026-2027 school year, ONLY. Applications and interviews are for consideration to be placed in the eligibility pool. As our enrollment continues to grow during the year, there is no way to forecast when a position will open up, which is why there are no set number of open positions listed, nor is such information given out.
The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. We use K12, inc. as our curriculum provider for the basis of instruction and teachers provide live instruction via the Engageli platform. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to log into the online school daily, complete coursework, and attend instructional sessions.
High School teachers carry a caseload of both content and homeroom students. They:
- Meet with content students throughout the week in their virtual classrooms to provide standards-based direct and targeted instruction.
- Support students in coursework, offer additional one-to-one support, and provide feedback and grade work within three days of submission.
- Build lasting relationships with their homeroom students through daily homeroom sessions and consistent outreach throughout the school year.
- Monitor attendance, progress, and engagement, providing interventions as needed.
- Communicate regularly with learning coaches and families via telephone, web conferencing, and email.
- Hold parent/teacher/student conferences quarterly and attend virtual meetings.
- Participate in PLCs, data conferencing, and professional development, both virtually and in-person.
- Proctor state testing.
Qualifications
- Permanent California Residence (Must currently reside in 1 of the 42 counties we service students and hire in)
- Valid/current Preliminary/Clear/Life California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science
- California English Learner Authorization- Issued by CTC
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
- Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organization and time-management skills
- Excellent writing and grammar skills
- Flexible schedule
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

- Must hold a valid California Single Subject Teaching credential with the Social Science subject authorization
- California English Learner Authorization
