Job Description

Role Description

The Fellow, Community Engagement will work closely with Kenneth Turner, Program Director, Community Engagement, Chesapeake and other members of staff to advance the Foundation's Community Engagement Program, which was created in 2024. Primary tasks include:

  • Exploring prospective grantee organizations
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and presenting funding requests
  • Engaging with community stakeholders (e.g., nonprofit leaders, community residents, teachers) and funding partners
  • Managing, shaping, and continually updating the Community Engagement grants portfolio

The Fellow will help advance the Foundation's mission of creating more equitable and livable communities by working with partners in the Chesapeake to address systemic inequities and immediate needs.

Qualifications

  • Passion for supporting community needs and nonprofit organizations
  • Interest in issues including but not limited to workforce development, education, immigration, community health, and community justice
  • Demonstrated passion and interest through past experiences (i.e., relevant volunteer experience, professional experience, lived experience)

Requirements

  • Ability to engage with community stakeholders and funding partners
  • Experience in grant making and partnership discussions
  • Willingness to lead workstreams, partnerships, and pilot programs
