Salary: $160,000-$170,000


Work location: Remote. Candidates must be local to the DC area in case of on-site meetings in Rockville, Maryland.


 

The Senior Cloud Architect will provide subject matter expertise to a federal customer on a range of cloud service implementation, configuration, migration, delivery, and performance management activities. This individual will support the development of specific compute, storage, network, security, and other architectures and designs required for continuing adoption of cloud services. They lead the design, engineering, and optimization of complex cloud environments, developing scalable architectures, automation frameworks, and monitoring solutions that support enterprise applications and infrastructure. This role troubleshoots advanced cloud, network, and identity-related issues; implements performance and cost-optimization strategies; and ensures cloud platforms adhere to security, compliance, and operational best practices. Acting as a senior technical authority, the architect collaborates across engineering, security, and operations teams to support cloud migrations, implement infrastructure-as-code patterns, refine alerting and observability, and guide the adoption of modern cloud services and architectures that enhance resilience, efficiency, and operational readiness. 

Requirements

  • US Citizenship required
  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure operations approaches and principles.
  • Direct experience implementing cloud management solutions to automate service use and monitoring.
  • Experience designing, configuring, and optimizing use of cloud services and related network connection mechanisms to support an organization’s infrastructure and application services requirements.
  • Experience supporting changes to development, testing, deployment, and configuration management processes consistent with a DevOps approach.
  • Experience evaluating service designs and alternatives to achieve an organization’s desired balance of performance, risk, and cost.
  • Experience and expertise implementing and maintaining cloud management solutions including initial and ongoing configuration of related automation, notifications, and reporting capabilities.
  • Experience working with a variety of legacy applications and platforms and working with application teams to implement or migrate associated components to cloud services.
  • Experience identifying and troubleshooting cloud service events and issues as well as working with cloud service providers to efficiently solve issues or implement workarounds.
  • A high-level of experience and skill relevant to the role
  • Strong project management skills; experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from the envisioning stage through to implementation, involving internal personnel, Contractors, and vendors; ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives in a fast paced, high pressure and relatively complex technical environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels
  • High standards of respect for individuals, excellence, and service to the customer

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.



The salary range for this position depends upon multiple factors including location, the individual's knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, and contract-specific budget constraints and organizational requirements.
Gunnison Consulting Group's total compensation package also includes bonus and profit-sharing opportunities, depending on company and employee performance. Available employee benefits include:
