Job Description

 

Join our team at Missoula Bone & Joint and Surgery Center as a Referral Coordinator and play a crucial role in helping patients navigate their healthcare journey with efficiency, accuracy, and compassion. In this fully remote role scheduled at 40 hours a week, you will serve as the central point for managing incoming referrals and coordinating patient scheduling, ensuring a seamless experience between patients, providers, and referring offices. All candidates must reside in Montana.

YOUR DAY AS A REFERRAL COORDINATOR

As a Referral Coordinator, you will serve as the primary contact for managing incoming patient referrals and coordinating appointments according to provider protocols. Your day will involve reviewing and processing incoming referrals, including those received through EPIC and CCD systems, and ensuring that all necessary patient and insurance information is accurately entered into our systems.

You will schedule new patient appointments and reschedule existing visits as needed while maintaining organized and efficient workflows. In addition, you will support phone and operator staff during high-volume periods by routing calls appropriately and taking accurate messages when necessary. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask will help ensure timely patient scheduling and effective communication between providers, staff, and referring offices.

You may also assist with general clerical duties, special projects, and administrative tasks that support the smooth operation of the clinic. Maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards is an essential component of this role.

The ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision will help ensure success in this role.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Strong computer, typing, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized workflows

  • Professional customer service and telephone etiquette

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as fax machines, printers, and postage meters

  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ethical professionalism

Preferred

  • Prior medical receptionist or healthcare office experience
