Summary Description:

As the Application Development Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of new products from ideation to commercialization. Your responsibilities will also include supporting technical initiatives, ensuring product safety, working directly with our customers to execute account strategies, and collaborating with operations, R&D, and supply chain teams to drive profitable growth. The ideal candidate will have strong flexible packaging technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and ability to develop customer relationships

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and develop packaging for new and existing products.
  • Lead technical activities to align with strategic goals by selecting appropriate packaging materials based on product needs, cost, and sustainability objectives.
  • Evaluate complex test results and field performance data to make data-driven recommendations that influence product strategy, quality improvements, and customer outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to align packaging with product and marketing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., ASTM, FDA, ISTA).
  • Identify and champion innovations using new technology and market insights to drive continuous improvement to packaging designs, cost reduction, and compliance with regulatory changes.
  • Lead complex customer and production trials, acting as the technical authority on-site to resolve issues, ensure flawless execution, and accelerate project timelines.
  • Travel to support trials and participate in customer engagements.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as assigned

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in packaging design and development.
  • Strong understanding of flexible packaging materials and manufacturing processes, with extensive experience driving growth through strong customer relationships.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Experience with sustainable packaging.

This is a 100% remote position Midwest or Northeast Region of the US with travel required ranging from 20-40%. Must be near major airport.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $94,275  to $113,130

An annual bonus is awarded to eligible employees upon attaining various business and individual goals as defined by the Company and the department leader.  This annual bonus is discretionary, and the Company has sole discretion to determine the amount of the award.
