Here at CNO Financial Group, our IT Intern program is designed to provide college students with practical, hands-on development experience in IT within a public insurance company.

As an IT Intern you will work in Data Enablement, reporting directly to our Manager Data Enablement.

CNO offers training and experience using various tools/applications including Tableau, Splunk, Automation Anywhere, PEGA, Visio, and ArchiMate.

As an IT Intern, your responsibilities will include:

  • Engage with Business/IT stakeholders.
  • Update, modify, develop and work to automate reports.
  • May perform tests on data systems.
  • Gather data transformation, integration, and quality requirements.
  • Investigate data anomalies and communicate back to the data stewards and data owners.

This is a paid internship, at competitive rates at $23-$25/hour depending on location.

Qualified candidates for an IT Intern position will have:

  • Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science, informatics, software development, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity or any information systems related discipline
  • Currently enrolled students with status as a junior or senior, and anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and December 2028.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Availability to work mid-May through early August 2026
  • Proficient understanding and functional knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, and Perl.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and as a motivated team player
  • Ability to be organized and prioritize work; seek direction as appropriate
  • Good interpersonal & consultative skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication

CNO embraces flexibility and encourages you to work where you’re most productive.  For students residing within 60 miles of CNO’s Carmel, IN or Chicago corporate office, interns will have access to come into the office.  If there are groups of interns near either location, informal lunches may also be arranged.  For interns not residing within 60 miles of a CNO corporate office, CNO also offers internships as fully remote / work-from-home from any US based location, as long as you are willing to work central or eastern time zone hours.
