Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Civil OSP Telecom Lead to provide design review, QC, and project management support across our OSP programs. This is a fully remote position, supporting teams across multiple time zones while maintaining high responsiveness during core project hours.
As project volumes continue to increase — particularly in Civil OSP, which remains the most time‑intensive discipline — this role will help absorb review/QC workloads, eliminate bottlenecks, and maintain consistent delivery when the broader OSP team are at capacity.
The selected candidate will specialize in reviewing Civil OSP design packages and ensuring strict adherence to client design documentation, supported by the necessary application of local and national design standards. The primary focus is ensuring compliance with the client’s technical documentation, templates, and engineering criteria—providing a critical quality gateway before deliverables move forward.
Key Responsibilities
Civil & OSP Design Review
- Conduct detailed reviews of Civil OSP design packages, including trenching, duct banks, microduct configurations, manholes/handholes, routing, and utility coordination.
- Validate design compliance with:
- Client‑specific design documentation, standards, and templates (primary focus).
- Local jurisdictional requirements (e.g., municipal ROW, DOT standards).
- National engineering standards, including NEC, NESC, UFC, RUS, BICSI, or project‑specific federal/military criteria.
- Provide QC oversight to identify inconsistencies, missing elements, conflicts, or non‑compliance prior to submittal.
- Offer clear review comments and actionable guidance to designers, CAD teams, and subcontractors.
Project Management Support
- Assist PMs in managing design review cycles, comment logs, deadlines, and submittal tracking.
- Support internal and external coordination meetings, especially in high‑workload weeks.
- Help integrate client review comments (municipalities, permitting agencies, etc.) into the design workflow.
Technical & Cross‑Discipline Coordination
- Work collaboratively with OSP engineers, civil designers, GIS teams, and construction stakeholders.
- Ensure design intent aligns with field conditions, client expectations, and overall program strategy.
- Participate in routing analysis and constructability validation for new or revised alignments.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Maintain and enhance Civil‑OSP QC checklists based on client design standards.
- Identify recurring review issues and help streamline upstream design processes.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of junior reviewers or external resources.
- Leverage digital and automated tools (Smartsheet, workflow automation, dashboards, QC trackers) to streamline processes, improve consistency, and reduce manual workload.
