Our Personal Lines team is currently seeking an Underwriter to join our growing team. This is a full-time, exempt role. This role is a hybrid opportunity.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Opportunity to join a team of dedicated Personal Lines Underwriting professionals who assist our independent agents write profitable business. This role gives you the opportunity to underwrite risk (selection/rejection of new and renewal business up to $3,000,000) and manage a profitable portfolio within the stated authority and guidelines.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Clearly communicates appetite, underwriting standards, declination reasons and coverage advantages to Agents and internal partners to ensure profitability and generate a flow of quality new business submissions and retention. Build strong agency relationships with our Independent Agents. Spearhead the development of effective relationships with our field partners and state management team to ensure we write profitable new business. Partner with agents to creatively solution for underwriting challenged books of business. Plan agency visits with the PL field leadership to work side by side with our independent agents.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
2+ years of Underwriting experience Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent Able to articulate and practice principles of risk management with specific limits of authority Demonstrate experience using independent judgement to analyze risks, accept, deny or recommend modifications. Be able to multi task in a high paced work environment including but not limited to phone calls, emails, new business and renewal reviews. Ability to adapt to technology; such as video conferencing, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel Ability to sit, stand throughout the work day. Ability to travel as needed.
