Job Description

• Supports the Prisma Health Trauma Program and organizational requirements for verification/designation as a Trauma Center. • Responsible for all aspects of the Trauma Registry Data including abstraction, entry, and coding. • Applies comprehensive knowledge to identify and collect complex data on trauma patients. • Performs ICD-10 coding and AIS coding of all diagnoses and procedures. • Utilizes critical thinking, organization, and time management skills to achieve high productivity and accuracy.

Job Requirements

Associate's degree in HIM or related healthcare field preferred.
One (1) year of trauma registry, coding, HIM or relevant healthcare related experience.
Requires completion of AAAM course (AIS coding) and Trauma Registry Course within one (1) year of hire.
Requires ICD-10 Coding course within one (1) year of hire.
One of the following certifications is preferred: CSTR (Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries), CAISS (Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist), AHIMA or AAPC coding certification, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS preferred.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology as well as disease processes.
