This 16-week immersive program offers a unique vantage point into the "nervous system" of public safety. You will gain experience in the full life cycle of emergency data—from the moment a 911 call hits the (CAD) system to its long-term storage and analysis in the (RMS).

Detailed Technical Focus

1. CAD Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Hardware/Software Integration: Gain hands-on experience with CAD console hardware, peripheral configurations, and multi-monitor UI environments.

  • Environment Management: Assist in maintaining Training/Test and Production environments to ensure 99.999% system uptime.

2. SQL & Data Analytics

  • Database Management: Utilize Microsoft SQL Server to perform complex joins and data validation.

  • Analysis: Translate raw emergency response data into actionable insights, focusing on response times and resource allocation.

  • Data Integrity: Perform audits to ensure RMS records meet state and federal reporting standards.

3. Security & Compliance

  • CJIS Standards: Learn and apply Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security policy requirements.

  • Access Control: Manage user permissions and troubleshoot security bottlenecks within the CAD/RMS ecosystem.

The 16-Week Curriculum
  • Weeks 1-4: Orientation, IT Onboarding, and CAD User Interface/Hardware Fundamentals.

  • Weeks 5-8: Systems Integration, Environment Management, and Troubleshooting.

  • Weeks 9-12: Transition to RMS, Reporting Fundamentals, and Relational Database (SQL) Introduction.

  • Weeks 13-16: Advanced SQL for Analysis, Security Compliance, and a Self-Selected Technical Capstone Project.

Preferred Qualifications & Requirements

  • Academic Standing: Must be pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics or a related field of study.

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 on a 4.0 scale preferred.

  • Technical Skills: * Basic understanding of Relational Databases (SQL).
