Job Description

• Lead the packaging workstream for New Product Launches, serving as the technical lead from concept to commercialization while ensuring all solutions are validated, sourced, and ready for market on schedule. • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Food Scientists, Process Engineering, and Marketing, to translate product requirements into high-performance packaging that protects product quality and enhances the customer experience. • Analyze member feedback and performance data to identify and execute re-engineering projects that improve durability, cold-chain integrity, and the physical "unboxing" experience. • Develop and refine material specifications in collaboration with FSQA and R&D to ensure all packaging meets rigorous functional standards, food safety requirements, and performance targets. • Incorporate eco-friendly materials and waste-reduction strategies into all new and existing projects, ensuring Ollie’s sustainability objectives are met without compromising cost-effectiveness or reliability. • Identify and implement high-impact cost savings projects through material optimization, rightsizing, and improved pallet utilization across the entire supply chain. • Work closely with external vendors and partners to define technical requirements and manage specification performance, ensuring materials support competitive sourcing and consistent manufacturing standards. • Summarize packaging development activities and results, effectively transferring technical knowledge to fulfillment centers and external partners to ensure "in-spec" handling and storage. • Travel between fulfillment centers and supplier sites to verify packaging performance, troubleshoot line efficiencies, and audit the implementation of new materials or designs.

Job Requirements

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Materials Science, or Engineering.
  • You have 2 - 5 years of professional packaging experience, ideally within a CPG or food manufacturing environment.
  • You have a proven track record of leading the packaging workstream for new product launches, managing the lifecycle from initial concept through to commercialization.
  • You bring hands-on experience with packaging materials and technologies, specifically in evaluating structural integrity, thermal performance, and sustainable solutions.
  • You have a strong background in material optimization and root cause analysis, with a "Quality First" mindset for solving transit or production failures.
  • You have successfully delivered measurable cost savings through design changes, rightsizing, and value engineering across the supply chain.
  • You are detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • You possess strong problem-solving skills and have experience working cross-functionally to translate technical packaging needs into clear goals for Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
  • You exhibit intellectual curiosity, innovation, and initiative, with a specific interest in leveraging technology to drive packaging efficiency.
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-led late-stage startup organization.
  • You are passionate about Ollie’s mission and are eager to apply your skills to improve the lives of pets and their parents.
