Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Stop Loss Claims Intern!

Symetra's Internship Program for Summer 2026 is entirely remote - all interns will learn and work in a virtual setting. The internship duration is 12 weeks, running from May 18 – August 7, 2026.
What you’ll learn
- Basic concepts of the competitive and dynamic “self-funded health Insurance” industry.
- How to succeed and collaborate with a high-performing team that operates in a completely remote environment.
- How to update data-driven content.
Potential Opportunities:
- Assist with creating visibility and easy access to resources that are used by employees and customers.
- Create a process to begin capturing the different report formats and determine a workflow for future use.
- Research and update some of the most innovative healthcare trends, including cellular and gene therapy developments.
- Collaborate with the Claims Coordinators team.
- Gain exposure to electronic claims mailboxes.
- Learn about the different types of stop loss reports that Symetra receives monthly.
- Create, expand, and update the database.
- Publish an updated internal list of approved and non-approved cost containment vendors.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and support more efficient workflows.
- Assist with project management by coordinating tasks and tracking progress.
Your education, experience, and skills
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor Program (preferably a junior or senior).
- Interest in learning about how employers, employees, and their families benefit from health care insurance coverage.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and with teams.
- Interest in learning and completing project work.
- Strong experience with Excel.
- Experience with Power BI preferred.

Compensation:
Hourly Range: $22.00-25.00
Work Authorization
Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with our company.
