Role Description
CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Premium Field Auditor I to join our team and play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service for our policyholders. In this role, you will conduct low- to medium-complexity physical and virtual Workers’ Compensation audits across multiple states. You’ll work directly with policyholders on original and disputed final audits, helping verify that all information meets applicable state regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to build strong client relationships, apply analytical skills, and contribute to the integrity of our audit processes.
- Independently conduct final audit of the business operations of the policyholder through review of all applicable records and interview with owner, corp. officer or authorized representative.
- Conduct physical inspection of all operative hazards active for former policyholders.
- Meet monthly production targets.
- Verify all Workers’ Compensation claims as valid and are classified correctly for unit statistical purposes.
- Analyze business operations to ensure compliance to all regulatory agencies and applicable state laws.
- Provide guidance and education to the policyholders regarding monthly payroll reporting as well as the entire final audit process.
- Responsible for scheduling premium audits, inventory management of work, resolving audit questions and disputes.
- Effectively communicate all necessary policy changes resulting from the final audit to all internal and external customers.
- Review all audit disputes with policyholder timely.
- Responsible for training and mentoring junior Premium Audit team members.
- Driving a vehicle is a requirement for this position.
Qualifications
- BS/BA college degree preferred, especially in business administration, finance, or accounting.
- 1-4 years of Audit experience with at least 2-3 years performing field/physical/on-site audits or Sr. Internal Audits.
- Intermediate Excel skills are a must and experience working with large amounts of payroll data.
- Excellent Customer Engagement/Service Skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in a clear, concise format.
- Knowledge of a variety of policy types, including guaranteed costs, high deductible, loss retro-incurred, composite rating, and group captives.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with secure file transfer platforms and handling of PII data.
- Superior knowledge of independent bureau and NCCI Worker’s Compensation and General Liability rules, regulations, and test audit states.
- Expert knowledge and insight into rules and ethics of Independent WC Rating Bureaus Rules and State regulations.
- Expert knowledge of state insurance regulatory requirements to ensure the company’s compliance.
