Description

Who We’re Looking For
The Senior Engineer is a high-impact technical role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining complex systems while fostering a culture of engineering excellence. Across all levels, you are expected to shift from pure execution to empowerment, co-creating quality standards and providing technical guidance that enables squads to be self-sufficient and decoupled. You serve as a bridge between high-level architectural vision and the practical delivery of product needs.

While we are remote we are only hiring within the following areas: OR, WA, CA, CO, TX, IL

Compensation - $120,000 - 127,500 yearly


Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Delivery & Quality: Design and implement robust, scalable software solutions while maintaining 100% adherence to sanctioned CI/CD templates and meeting defined SLAs. Participates in and leads response to on-call incidents.
  • Golden Path Adoption: Actively drive the use of standardized tools and technologies to reduce development friction and improve "Time to First Commit". Contributes to the evolution of the Golden path and Engineering standards.
  • Process Improvement: Establish faster feedback loops and drive systematic improvements to development practices to reduce "Blocked Time" per ticket.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure all technical work aligns with the long-term Architectural Vision and product outcomes rather than just output. Adapts to priority shifts and changing Product direction. Strong focus on measurable value creation via Engineering efforts.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, championing best practices through "Lightning Talks" and detailed documentation.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in modern software architecture, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native systems.
  • Product Thinking: Ability to treat internal platforms and tools as products where fellow engineers are the customers.
  • Communication: Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Agile Proficiency: Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum/Kanban with a focus on delivering MVPs over large-scale waterfall projects.
  • Influence: Ability to build consensus across teams and drive change without direct authority.
Education & Experience:
  • Required
    • 5+ years of software engineering or operations experience.
    • 2+ years of experience in a senior role.
    • Building, operating, troubleshooting and optimizing production systems under load.
    • Delivered software using Python and JavaScript with frameworks.
    • Interface with relational databases using SQL.
    • Using Git and conducting code reviews within a sprint SDLC.
    • Familiarity with Build systems, DevOps and CI/CD procedures.
    • Familiarity with cloud services.
    • Thorough understanding of HTTP APIs.
    • Possess advanced knowledge in your specialization to be able to guide and mentor team members. 
    • Experience designing and leading a software project from requirements to delivery with no guidance.
    • Experience independently researching and leading technical discussions with peers.
    • Thoroughly understands the business vision, mission, and strategy and how their code supports and affects business outcomes.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from key stakeholders and decision makers.
    • Working knowledge of taking a large complex project, breaking it down into sub-tasks, and completing those tasks as required.
    • Shows initiative and seeks evidence in data to support ideas.
  • Preferred
    • Use of containerization and orchestration technologies, Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Node.js, FastAPI, React, GraphQL, Kafka, Flask, Redis, Memcached
    • AWS, DataDog, Cloudflare Workers, WP Engine
    • Microservices, distributed/edge systems and event driven architectures.
    • ADA / WCAG Compliance
