Job Description
Role Description
As a Data Engineer, you are a technically rigorous and innovation-minded professional responsible for designing, building, and evolving the data pipelines, migration frameworks, and integration systems that power Aeries implementations. While the initial focus of this role centers on migrating customer data from legacy Student Information Systems into Aeries, the scope is intentionally built to expand.
- Design and execute ETL processes using TSQL, Python, and related scripting tools to migrate millions of structured and unstructured records across concurrent district projects, ensuring accuracy and integrity at scale.
- Work with diverse data formats including Excel, CSV, Access databases, and SQL Server or other relational database extracts.
- Validate and reconcile migrated data to ensure integrity, completeness, and alignment with district requirements.
- Partner with Implementation Coordinators to deliver conversions on schedule and within defined scope.
- Identify repetitive or manual conversion tasks as candidates for AI-assisted automation and contribute to process redesign efforts.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate data mapping, anomaly detection, and quality validation workflows.
- Establish and document process baselines to measure time saved and efficiency gained through AI and automation adoption.
- Continuously evaluate conversion methodologies and contribute to the development of repeatable, scalable frameworks.
- Document standardized approaches, scripting patterns, and conversion playbooks for cross-team use.
- Manage multiple concurrent conversion projects, maintaining clear priorities and proactive communication with stakeholders.
- Communicate conversion status, risks, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias toward efficient, scalable solutions.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative team orientation with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving cross-functional dependencies.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills tailored to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Agile process familiarity and comfort working in iterative, feedback-driven delivery environments.
- AI literacy and a growth mindset toward continuous tool adoption and workflow improvement.
Requirements
- 3+ years of data conversion, data migration, or data integration experience.
- Proficiency in TSQL and at least one additional language such as Python or C#.
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes and relational database structures.
- Working knowledge of data formats including CSV, Excel, Access, and SQL Server extracts.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted data tools, including Claude Code, and a willingness to evaluate and adopt new technologies.
- SIS, ERP or EdTech industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.
- Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data Engineering, dbt, or similar tools are a plus.
Benefits
- $95,000 - $125,000 base salary, based on experience & skills.
- Annual bonus based on employee and company performance.
- Health insurance coverage for employees and covered dependents.
- Health Savings Account with employer contributions.
- 401(k) plan with up to 4% employer match.
- “Responsible PTO” with additional paid time off for sick time, volunteering, bereavement, and jury duty.
- 11 paid holidays with additional paid closure between Dec 26–Jan 1.
- Educational Reimbursement program and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
