Job Description

• Recruit eligible youth for Job Corps Program • Conduct outreach activities in communities, agencies, American Job Centers, and public events • Responsible for meeting departmental and center goals and objectives • Conduct orientation and interviews with applicants including parents in the case of minors • Perform applicant files procedures (data entry, scan documents on e-file) • Participate in departmental meetings • Coordinate with centers to support applicants in travel arrangements • Perform Quality Assurance Checks on all applicant files • Assess graduates/former trainees' placement readiness, and provide appropriate referrals and support services • Ensure timely placement and retention of assigned graduates and former enrollees in quality jobs, the military, or further education and training opportunities • Promote job development through direct contact with employers, One-Stops, JTPA, and State Employment Agencies • Clearly communicate and model appropriate CSS and employability skills • Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property • Adhere to safety practices in all areas of responsibility • Foster a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field
  • Two years related experience
  • Above average public speaking skills and experience
  • Above average verbal and written skills
  • Above average problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Computer literacy; specifically, Internet, e-mail, and Word Perfect/MS WORD
  • Ability to work some evening hours and periodic weekends
  • Ability to travel periodically
  • Four years’ experience working with youths ages 16-24
