• Influence company goal setting by representing engineering’s current and future capacity & capabilities. • Strategically align division teams with the company direction, then communicate the vision and plan to the rest of the engineering team and other stakeholders. • Understand how to navigate a complex domain area and reconcile market, budget, and competing priorities as constraints. • Department budget ownership not limited to but including current headcount, team development, education, tooling, hiring and retention. • Track and evaluate key performance metrics, objectives, dependencies, status, and results of a growing product portfolio • Shape technical processes with the assistance of engineering leadership. • Lead engineering managers, mentor next level down leaders, and build engineering teams in a high-growth environment • Empower developer productivity and set the tone for the culture of the department • Evaluate technology partners, where appropriate • Collaborate with other departmental leaders (Product, Design, Technical Program Management, Data) to organize initiatives and organizational growth plans • Manage, track and promote employee engagement by building a mission-driven culture of improving patient’s lives built on teamwork, autonomy, interdependence and creative problem-solving • Direct key technical decisions related to application and data model design. • Understanding of data structures, TDD, and software engineering design patterns and principles.
