• Manage a pending of at least 70 claims arising from property, physical damage, and cargo • Operate under appropriate levels of supervision and within established authority • Verify and determine applicability of coverage • Determine the method and extent of investigation for each claim as required by company Best Practices • Review and manage outstanding files, as assigned, for adequacy and timeliness of investigation, evaluation and reserve • Assign, and monitor independent adjusters, to ensure adequate investigations, appraisals, and settlements • Evaluate and adjust claims within the adjuster’s authority level • Report directly on technical matters to manager • Evaluate and manage litigated claims, determines future course of handling and proper method of disposition • Consult with the claim manager on claims needing assistance and consultation • Assess recovery potential and develop information required to pursue recovery • Accountable for equitable and prompt adjustment and management of assigned claims to disposition
