Job Description

As a Test Engineer I, you will be responsible for executing manual and automated tests to ensure software meets quality standards. Working under the supervision of more experienced engineers, you'll assist in test case creation, defect logging, and performing functional and regression testing. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity to develop foundational testing skills and gain hands-on experience in the TE process, contributing to the overall success of the development team and software quality initiatives. Develop Test Plans and Strategies: Assist in the creation and execution of basic test plans and strategies to minimize production defects. Design and Execute Test Cases: Develop reproducible test cases and execute them based on simple software requirements. Perform Manual and Automated Testing: Conduct manual testing for exploratory and usability purposes and assist with automated testing tasks. Documentations for Process and Bug Report: Create basic test cases, test results, and bug reports, ensuring overall quality. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication: Work with TPM/Engineers to ensure clarity of simple product requirements and support business stakeholders in User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Identify obstacles to testing tasks and work with senior test engineers to resolve them. Test Automation Effectiveness and Coverage: Begin to learn basic automation principles and assist with automated tests.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or other related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • New grad or 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Preferred: 1 or more years of professional experience with Java and Python.
  • 1 or more years of testing experience using tools such as Selenium and TestNG.
  • Proficiency in database management and tools.
  • Familiarity with API testing.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Test Rail, Jenkins, GitHub, and Test Management tools.
  • Knowledge in AI development is a plus.
  • Experience in the insurance industry or insurance-based projects.
  • Familiar with different testing types (manual, functional, regression).
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to demonstrate keen attention to detail when identifying defects.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and identify simple root causes.
  • Requirements Analysis: Able to assist in reviewing basic product requirements and test scenarios.
  • Automation Scripting: Ability to execute basic automation scripts or assist in their execution.
  • API Testing: Basic knowledge of API testing tools (e.g., Postman).
  • Collaboration and Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Adapts to changes in testing assignments and new testing tools.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage daily tasks and testing assignments.
  • Product Knowledge: Ability to acquire domain knowledge related to the product being tested.
  • Familiar with using defect tracking tools like JIRA and Confluence.
