Job Description
Role Description
As a Physician Advisor, you will serve as the primary academic and admissions advisor for a cohort of students, guiding them through every stage of the application process.
- Deliver high-quality advising
- Oversee the development of application materials
- Ensure students submit polished, competitive applications
- Collaborate closely with writing advisors and other team members
- Maintain ownership over students' overall strategy and progress
This position is ideal for physicians who are passionate about mentorship, high-stakes admissions, and helping students reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with medical students applying to residency programs
- Collaborate directly with pre-medical applicants who are applying to medical school (if applicable)

Conduct one-on-one advising sessions focused on:
- Specialty selection and competitiveness assessment
- ERAS application strategy
- Personal statement development
- CV and experiences refinement
- Letters of recommendation guidance
- Program selection and list strategy
- Ranking strategy and Match preparation
- Partner with writing advisors to support brainstorming and editing of personal statements and supplemental essays
- Facilitate mock residency interviews and provide detailed, constructive feedback
- Advise students on red flags, remediation strategies, and strengthening their application
- Provide guidance for SOAP (Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program), if applicable
- Participate in webinars, blog contributions, or other educational outreach (optional)
Qualifications
- Attended a U.S. Medical School
- MD or DO Physician
- Successfully matched into residency
- Deep familiarity with the residency application process, including ERAS and the NRMP Match
- Prior experience mentoring medical students or residents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Zoom, Gmail, Google Meet, and other communication tools
Preferred Clinical Backgrounds (Not Required)
- Dermatology
- Psychiatry
- Neurology
- Radiology
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
- Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- General Surgery
- Emergency Medicine
- Physicians from other specialties are also encouraged to apply.
