Role Description

This role involves establishing and managing enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic initiatives and directly managing all aspects of the SDLC for large and complex IT and business projects.

  • Partner with architects to ensure alignment
  • Directly manage all aspects of the application development project lifecycle
  • Analyze current business processes to identify inefficiencies
  • Rigorously manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within the agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Create realistic project and quality plans that include project interdependencies
  • Analyze, diagnose, design, plan, execute, and evaluate work to time, cost, and quality targets
  • Estimate costs, time, and resource requirements
  • Track all activities against the project plan, monitor budget, schedule, and resources used
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Identify, assess, and manage risk to the success of the project
  • Identify, assess, and manage issues and escalate them to mitigate impact to overall project viability
  • Provide regular and accurate status reports to project sponsor, project executives, and senior management
  • Participate in procurement management, including contract negotiations and wording
  • Motivate team members and provide individual performance data to resource managers for associate development and reviews
  • Operate phase containment by ensuring all deliverables for the phase are produced and meet agreed upon quality criteria
  • Collaborate with other managers within the business units to manage expectations
  • Assist in recovery of challenged projects

All associates are expected to appear on camera during virtual meetings to maintain connection and effective communication.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of recent IT project management experience, including software development and management of large, strategic initiatives
  • Ability to quickly earn the trust of others, set direction, resolve conflicts, and deliver difficult messages with grace
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbally
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft® Office experience
  • Sound business and technical acumen

Requirements

  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
  • Maintaining a high sense of urgency and operating with a passion to succeed
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Negotiating and influencing

Preferred

  • Familiar with managing insurance industry system and software development/integration projects (highly preferred)
  • Experience in LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
  • Agile project management experience
  • Proficiency in data analysis and process mapping tools
  • SharePoint experience
  • Experience managing iterative projects
