About the Opportunity:
We are looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to support and strengthen our global trade compliance program. In this role, you will work within the Company’s legal department and report directly to the global Trade Compliance Leader. General responsibilities include ensuring our international operations comply with applicable export and customs laws, regulations, and internal policies. You will collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Legal, Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations to manage risk and support business growth in a compliant manner.
Location: Remote
Travel: This position will require occasional travel.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Trade Compliance Leader with the following:
- Policy Deployment/Training
- Support development and implementation of the trade compliance program across the Company, working with all Company locations and functional teams.
- Review changes to export control laws and regulations to ensure policies are up to date.
- Organize and provide trade compliance training and maintain training records.
- Assist in classifying products and technology using appropriate HTS, ECCN, or Category.
- Licenses
- Prepare, submit, and manage export license applications and other governmental filings as needed.
- Conduct document reviews and disposition as necessary.
- Filings and Reports
- Create and support the creation of Customs filings (AES/EEI/ACE).
- Assist the Trade Compliance Leader in responding to government and third-party correspondence and reporting requirements.
- Assist in OFAC Blocked property annual reporting.
- Audits
- Assist in internal audits of export compliance policies and compliance.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant export control regulations (EAR, ITAR, OFAC, EU Dual Use Regulations, etc.)
- Support audits and investigations by regulatory authorities or internal teams.
- Assist with development and execution of corrective actions as necessary.
- Visitor Administration
- Conduct denied and restricted party screening.
- Review and approve third-party visitors to Company locations.
- Other related duties as may be assigned.
- Policy Deployment/Training
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university plus three years of experience in export compliance, specifically with U.S. and international export regulations (e.g. ITAR, EAR, OFAC). In lieu of a degree, seven years of experience in export compliance.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with electronic licensing processes under US export laws
- Hands on experience with customs regulations and reporting
- Compliance certification (e.g., CUSECO, CES, or similar).
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing.
- Familiarity with EU or other non-U.S. export control regimes.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
- Solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft office suite software, ability to learn new software and programs
- Ability to work independently.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
- Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
