Role Description
We Are Looking for a Detail-Oriented Account Specialist to Join Our Team in Service. The current vacancies are in the Countywide Operations department. The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department or County.
- Audit and process bills and claims
- Post transactions and balance accounts
- Reconcile accounts to issue and receive payments
- Assist in assembling and analyzing data and budget information
- Process personnel and payroll transactions
- Perform related duties as assigned
This position is identified under the designation of ‘flex work eligible’, meaning that the employee can formally opt to be in-office full-time or work a flex schedule in which at least two days per week are performed in office and other days can be performed in a remote-first environment.
- Audit bills, claims, and related documents for accuracy
- Maintain general, control, and subsidiary books of account
- Balance accounts by computing totals and comparing results
- Reconcile account discrepancies by identifying and correcting errors
- Prepare payment documents such as accounts payable forms and purchase orders
- Create accounts receivable documents for billable items
- Prepare periodic reports to document transactions and budget conditions
- Assemble information for cost projections and budget preparation
- Research costs for planned purchases
- Prepare documents for personnel and payroll transactions
- Maintain supplies of frequently used documents
- Operate a computer in a Microsoft Office environment
- Compose correspondence in response to requests
- Provide requested account information as appropriate
Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent
- One year of accounting/bookkeeping experience
- Equivalent combination of education and related experience
Requirements
- Training and Experience Rating = 100%
- Complete the supplemental questionnaire for the examination
- Eligible List: Applicants will remain on the list for 60 days or until hired
- Veteran's Preference points will be applied after passing the examination process
- Criminal background check required for employment offers
- Participation in the federal E-Verify program
