Job Description
Overview
Hyland is building the future of intelligent enterprise software, turning unstructured data into valuable insights using AI.
As an Experience Designer 4 on Hyland’s growing next-gen platform team, you’ll sit at the center of Hyland’s Content Innovation Cloud (CIC), building foundational experiences and control plane patterns that shape how the platform supports the product suite. You’ll influence setup, onboarding, provisioning, account management, and administrative workflows, as well as high-visibility cross-platform features like notifications, dashboards, and global search.
We’re looking for a designer who thrives in complex environments, proactively identifies opportunities for greater cohesion and takes initiative. You’ll have a strong voice in the work, and the chance to create patterns and systems that scale across teams and products. You will partner with a friendly, sharp group of designers, product managers, and engineers who are creative, thoughtful, and deeply knowledgeable in their craft.
We’re a diverse, global team that values constructive debate, kindness, and inclusive collaboration. We do our best work when people bring curiosity, humility, and genuine care for one another.
We’re remote-first, with teammates across Europe and India, so you’ll need availability starting at 8:00am Eastern Time. This role requires occasional travel to Cleveland or Europe (up to 10%).
Responsibilities
Lead platform-oriented experiences: Own end-to-end strategy and design for shared product suite capabilities like identity, onboarding, provisioning, subscriptions, administration, and dashboards.
Influence vision and strategy: Partner with senior leaders to shape platform direction, prioritize work, and align design decisions around short and long-term outcomes.
Work closely with product and engineering: Build alignment, translate ambiguity into clear direction, and make smart tradeoffs that address user needs and total cost of ownership.
Test and iterate: Pair with researchers to translate user insights and customer needs into journey maps, stories, flows, concepts, and interactive prototypes.
Design scalable systems, not just screens: Create patterns, workflows, and interaction models that hold up across teams, products, roles, and edge cases.
Apply and contribute to our design system: Help evolve the component library, patterns, and their usage rules with design system partners and leadership.
Drive accessibility as a first-class requirement: Ensure experiences meet WCAG 2.2 AA by partnering with accessibility experts and engineering teams.
Build responsive, accessible layouts: Support reflow-friendly and adaptive layouts for complex tasks and dense data like tables, forms, dashboards, search, and settings.
Enable delivery with strong specs: Provide annotated design specifications and documentation that detail interaction behaviors and acceptance criteria for developers.
Raise the bar for the org: Lead critiques, mentor and coach others, and model inclusive, constructive collaboration, helping teams deliver high-quality, consistent, easy-to-use experiences through shared best practices.
Operate responsibly: Follow Hyland privacy, information security, and AI guidelines in all design work.
- Comply with all corporate and departmental privacy and data security policies and practices, including but not limited to, Hyland’s Information Systems Security Policy

- Accessibility expertise: Proven delivery of products meeting WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 AA success criteria, including responsive reflow considerations and collaboration with accessibility specialists.
- Strong product judgment: Proven ability to navigate tradeoffs and avoid over-designed solutions, delivering experiences that are scalable, supportable, and efficient to build.
- Design system fluency: Experience applying and extending a component system, ideally with Material Design 3 and/or Angular Material experience, with strong judgment around component use, consistency, and scalability.
- Responsive design mastery: Deep experience designing responsive and adaptive layouts. A big plus for doing this within Material Design-based ecosystems.
- Platform and systems design strength: Experience designing shared capabilities or design patterns used across multiple products, teams, or portals (enterprise platform experience preferred).

- Research-informed practice: Skilled at translating qualitative and quantitative insights into flows, prototypes, and iterative improvements.
- Execution excellence: Proficiency with Figma, and a track record of producing interactive prototypes and clear specs that enable testing, buy-in, and ease of implementation within Agile product delivery teams.
- Pragmatic, steady operator: Strong judgment, prioritization, time-management, and ownership, with the ability to bring order to ambiguous and complex challenges.
- Experience leading workshops and presentations: Proven ability to facilitate sessions and present design direction to audiences spanning product, engineering, and senior leadership, aligning challenges, tradeoffs, and a path to delivery.
- Low-ego collaborator: Comfortable inviting critique, sharing work early, and partnering across disciplines with curiosity, respect, and a bias toward finding the best ideas.
- Experience in the AI platform space is preferred: Designing for AI-enabled platforms or model-driven experiences, with an understanding of key considerations like transparency, control, safety, bias, and quality.
