Role Description

This role involves helping families navigate difficult situations related to special education and school discipline.

  • Work directly with the owner to support the team and help clients
  • Manage a caseload in either a part-time or full-time position
  • Take initiative on work that needs to be done with minimal supervision
  • Engage in legal research, drafting, reviewing, and editing support letters, personal statements, and cover letters
  • Attend school meetings as needed and assist with special education and school discipline matters
  • Independently maintain and manage individual casework
  • Enter client notes and billable time into the Case Management System

Qualifications

  • Experience in Children's law as it relates to special education or school discipline
  • Barred in California or another State
  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Wide range of knowledge regarding children's law and law-related topics

  • Ability to effectively advocate on behalf of clients
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of accountability and responsibility
  • Experience in special education (personal or professional) or school discipline
  • Great communicators, especially in high-stress situations
