Role Description

Gundersen Health System is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as a full-time Accounts Receivable Rep in our Rural Government Billing department! In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement processes while supporting our patients and internal teams.   • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
  • Full-time – 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)
  • Monday – Friday, 8-hour shift between 7 AM - 5:30 PM (flexible start times based on team coverage and operational needs)
  • Department: Supporting Government Billing for the Hillsboro location
  • Remote eligible after training (Training location flexible)
  • Must reside in WI, MN, or IA

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of work experience, preferably in a medical facility, insurance company, or office setting
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with medical billing and third-party payor processes is a plus
  • Successful completion of core competency testing for Accounts Receivable Representatives

Requirements

  • Perform detailed audits of patient accounts to identify and resolve billing issues
  • Follow up with third-party payors to ensure proper reimbursement and claim resolution
  • Investigate and manage claim reviews and appeals
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external contacts to maintain data integrity
  • Educate patients on financial responsibilities and assist with payment arrangements
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects
