This role focuses on architecting, maintaining, and modernizing enterprise backup and recovery solutions with a strong emphasis on automation, DevOps principles, and operational efficiency. You will work with cross-functional teams to implement strategies that ensure data integrity, availability, and recoverability across diverse platforms. The position blends deep technical expertise in backup systems with advanced scripting and automation skills, enabling process improvements and innovation. You will actively contribute to problem-solving, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, while mentoring colleagues and sharing knowledge. This is a highly technical, impactful role in a collaborative, fast-paced environment that values innovation and continuous improvement.
- Design, deploy, and manage enterprise backup solutions across tape, disk, and cloud-based systems.
- Lead automation and process improvement initiatives using Python, Bash, PowerShell, and Ansible.
- Monitor backup performance, analyze trends, and optimize operations for efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex backup failures, ensuring minimal downtime and data recoverability.
- Provide consultation, training, and knowledge sharing to team members and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, contractual obligations, and industry regulations.
- Contribute to the organization’s body of knowledge, supporting modernization, migration, and optimization projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 11 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 8 years with a Master’s; or 5 years with a PhD.
- 4+ years of Linux administration experience (RHEL or equivalent).
- Strong scripting skills in Python, plus Bash, PowerShell, and SQL.
- Proven experience managing and modernizing enterprise backup environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale modernization, migration, and optimization projects.
- Preferred experience with Rubrik, NetBackup, Commvault, and backup analytics/reporting tools.
