Role Description
The Technical Sales Manager – Foundry will serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers while partnering closely with Sales, Operations, Quality, and Innovation teams to drive growth and customer success.
- Match customer technical needs with existing Covia products and/or recommend suitable product alternatives to optimize performance and value.
- Partner with the sales team to resolve customer technical issues, support conversions, and identify new business opportunities.
- Lead and conduct foundry testing, including resin-coated sand evaluations and core formulation development, and support customer foundry audits and technical qualification activities as required.
- Participate in customer specification negotiations and support Operations and Quality teams with specification changes and implementation.
- Work closely with Covia foundry sand plants and the Covia Analytical Services Lab to ensure consistent product quality and performance.
- Attend customer plant audits and support technical qualification processes.
- Represent Covia at customer sites, conferences, trade shows, and technical forums, presenting Covia solutions and innovations.
- Actively engage in AFS committees and other industry technical organizations to support the foundry industry and position Covia as a technical leader.
- Stay current on industry developments, including advancements in 3D printing sands, recycled sand technologies, and emerging foundry processes.
- Deliver internal and external technical training to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Support strategic marketing, innovation initiatives, and business strategy development, including pricing excellence.
- Maintain organized technical data, documentation, and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience within the foundry industry, with demonstrated expertise in green sand, cold box, no-bake, and resin-coated sand processes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear customer value.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional, team-oriented environments.
