This role works closely with Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) to align marketing technology with their goals across meetings, sports, visitors, group tours, and member/partner audiences. The consultant applies strong technical and tactical expertise to help clients operationalize the platform effectively and achieve consistent, data-driven results.
The consultant brings solid proficiency in marketing automation, email marketing, deliverability, data and list management, template development, and campaign execution. This role guides clients through reporting, performance analysis, and ongoing optimization, while leveraging working knowledge of CRM-to–marketing automation integrations to support accurate and effective use of CRM data. Success in this position requires a blend of technical execution, clear communication, and reliable client support, enabling both efficient daily operations and long-term program improvement.
What Your Impact Will Look Like
- Develop a strong understanding of each client’s marketing goals, including the unique needs of Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), and partner with them to define clear marketing automation objectives and KPIs.
- Present performance insights, strategic recommendations, and campaign results to guide ongoing client success and platform adoption.
- Manage the full onboarding process for new clients by configuring our preferred or integrated marketing automation platform, establishing key settings, and ensuring a smooth transition into active use.
- Deliver comprehensive training on core and advanced features on our preferred or integrated marketing automation platform including segmentation, email creation and testing, scoring, forms, landing pages, A/B testing, automated programs, and performance reporting.
- Maintain high data quality standards through accurate list imports, segmentation updates, and adherence to data hygiene practices.
- Build email templates aligned to client requirements and troubleshoot issues related to HTML, deliverability, segmentation, and other aspects of platform functionality.
- Execute email marketing campaigns and automated workflows using digital marketing best practices and audience-focused strategies.
- Utilize strong knowledge of CRM-to–marketing automation integrations and understand how Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) clients leverage CRM data within their marketing programs.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to HTML, segmentation, deliverability, and overall system performance while meeting departmental SLAs to ensure reliable and timely client support.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in marketing automation and/or email marketing, preferably in a software/tech or agency environment working with Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) or at a DMO.
- Proficiency with marketing automation platforms (Act-On preferred) and familiarity with CRM systems.
- Strong understanding of database concepts, list management, segmentation, and foundational HTML/CSS.
- Experience delivering client training and translating complex technical concepts into practical guidance.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and project management skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in client-facing roles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 product family and familiarity with analytics and testing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Litmus).
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks with minimal direction while collaborating effectively within a team; agency or consulting experience is a plus.
- Strong travel and tourism industry knowledge.
Security and Privacy Requirements
