Role Description

Gray Construction is looking to add a Site Manager, MEP to their Field Operations Team. This is a field/project based position.

  • Assist MEP Project Manager in locating and evaluating potential subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work for review and approval of MEP Project Manager.
  • Assist in the development of MEP project schedule within the entire construction schedule.
  • Prepare estimates in areas of MEP self-performed work, and assist in complete project estimate.
  • Assist in coordination/management of all trades throughout build process.
  • Assist in selection of qualified bidders and negotiate final prices.
  • Assist in the preparation of various reports, i.e. cost to complete, monthly billings and status reports.
  • Review all drawings, i.e. P&IDs, Mechanical, Electrical, Shop, Architectural, Structural, etc. when they are issued to the field and coordinate and maintain a current set at all times.
  • Assist in pricing work, draft changes and change orders to be reviewed by MEP Project Manager.
  • Assist in ensuring customer satisfaction with the project.
  • Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion.
  • Schedule work, including subcontractors.
  • Assist in the productivity and quantity tracking of the subcontractors installed work.
  • Determine materials, equipment and tools needed.
  • Secure appropriate supply sources.
  • Set up and close out construction site.
  • Serve as on-site Safety Officer when one is not specifically assigned to the project.
  • Participate in the company’s safety portion of the QMS program.
  • Responsible for procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specification, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Consult with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within the work force.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated by reports and/or direction from MEP Project Manager.
  • Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards in accordance to company, industry standard, and job specifications.
  • Ensure the company QMS program is used and maintained in accordance to company standards.
  • Generate reports and traceability for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the communication, implementation and enforcement of Gray’s safety program on site.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school AND a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience OR a minimum 15 years related construction experience with increasing responsibility in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience within the light/heavy industrial sector highly desired.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), tablets and smartphones.
  • MS project and other scheduling software a plus.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development.
  • Must possess the ability to think for his/herself and be able to manage without direction having to be given.

Requirements

  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • This position requires travel as our projects are scattered throughout the United States and, in some cases outside of the U.S.
  • The selected candidate can live anywhere in the USA, but would be required to travel to the project site per Gray’s travel policy.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration.
  • The noise level is generally moderate to loud.
  • Overtime may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May lead multiple subordinate supervisors and other support staff.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Takes ownership of training newer team members.
